Where deserts collide: visit Southern California

blank

Maybe you wouldn’t expect to see a desert as a National Park and even less, imagine it to be as beautiful as this; come with us to Joshua Tree in Southern California.

Joshua Tree National Park stands where two deserts, the Mojave and Colorado, combine. This gives an inventive mix of plants and animals but most of all, an area of beauty, made to yield to the wind and rain when it comes.

From dark skies at night, we move to sunrise and a vast expanse of boulders, changing colour as the sun plays on them. It may be a wilderness but look into the sky and feel overawed by this dreamlike sequence that inspires you to want to explore more.

Particularly powerful is the image of the lone tree, standing statuesque, and person-like, isolated and far away from civilization. Look at it quickly and the silhouette may persuade you to think that you have come across a vast giant of a person.

A quote from the originator of this great film:

2014 has been a transformational year. The birth of our son, relocation to a new city, closure of one start up adventure, the beginning of another start up journey and the launch of various big design projects.
To manifest the transition into a new sign I have composed a short film of time-lapse sequences that were shot primarily during the same time period. This film represents the transformation of a single day. Sequences were captured on multiple occasions in Joshua Tree. Original music by Phil Clevenger. Enjoy!

The desert may be hot and barren but as we return to the restfulness of the moon and darkness descending, it’s hard not to appreciate the wizardry and rough beauty of such a place.
